Salma Khan is the co-founder of Rahma Institute and a Licensed Professional

Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and families through education and

counseling. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling & Development with a focus on

Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling, along with a Bachelor’s degree in

Psychology.


With a strong passion for Islamic studies and Islamic Psychology, Salma has learned from

teachers and scholars, earned certifications in Traditional Islamically Integrated

Psychotherapy (TIIP 2) and Counseling from an Islamic Theoretical Orientation program at

Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. She has also completed specialized training in family

and relationship wellness, including the Gottman Method.


As a wife, mother, and active community advocate, Salma brings both professional

expertise and personal understanding to her work, helping others navigate the

complexities of family life and personal growth with compassion and care.

Dr. Mehboob Ali is the co-founder of Rahma Institute and is a Licensed Professional

Counselor. He has completed his Doctorate in Liberal Studies with research focus on Islamic Psychology, proactive mental wellness, cultural intelligence, and modern

challenges impacting society.

 

While leading global technology programs for a Fortune 100 company in Silicon Valley, he

earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling & Mental Health, enabling him to

contribute as both an educator and licensed professional counselor. Mehboob brings

together his extensive expertise in corporate strategy and human behavior with a deep

passion for serving the Muslim community.

 

He has studied Islamic Psychology, learned from scholars, and completed multiple

certificate programs on counseling from an Islamic orientation in Istanbul, Turkey. He has

earned certifications in Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP 2) and

Counseling from an Islamic Theoretical Orientation program at Istanbul Sabahattin

Zaim University.
Born and raised in Chicago, Mehboob is a husband, father, entrepreneur, and graduate

of an Islamic school. His diverse experiences include leadership roles in corporate America

and entrepreneurship.

Noor Omar

Intern

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Student

Noor is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at the University of the Cumberlands, currently completing her practicum. With a background in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington, she brings both academic training and lived experience to her work. As a Palestinian American, she is deeply passionate about advocacy, especially amplifying the voices of refugees and supporting women as they navigate life’s many responsibilities and transitions.


Her counseling approach is grounded in cultural humility, empathy, and compassion, guided by Islamic principles. She is also pursuing the Tafheem Al Quran course through Al Huda Institute at Valley Ranch Islamic Center, an experience that continues to shape her integration of faith, values, and mental health. Noor is committed to creating safe, affirming spaces where clients feel seen, heard, and supported in both their mental and spiritual wellness.


Outside of counseling, she enjoys moments of reflection during sunrise and sunset, attending book club, and spending quality time with her husband, three daughters, and mother. These experiences inspire her dedication to walking alongside clients as they build resilience, clarity, and hope on their journey toward balance and healing.

Yuser Tagouri

Intern

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Student

Yuser Tagouri is in her final year at Southern Methodist University, specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on trauma. She is passionate about working with couples at all stages—whether preparing for marriage, navigating the early years, or addressing ongoing patterns of conflict. Her approach is collaborative and compassionate, rooted in curiosity and care.


In addition to her graduate training, Yuser is completing the Qalam Seminary Alimiyyah program and Khalil Center’s Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy (TIIP) certification. This unique background allows her to integrate faith, culture, and mental health, providing clients with a space where their values and beliefs are honored as part of the therapeutic process.


Beyond her clinical work, Yuser provides counseling at a local detention center and serves on the board of the ISeeYou Foundation, a nonprofit supporting people experiencing homelessness. These experiences continue to shape her commitment to offering safe, grounding, and meaningful care to every client she serves.
